Designed around the latest scientific early brain development research, Frog Street Infant/Toddler program is designed to build strong foundations for little ones ages 0-18 months. This child-centered program equips our teachers to nurture the little ones in our care. It optimizes key windows of opportunity for growth and development and is designed with intention and purpose and organized around developmental learning domains. It features Dr. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline® strategies to enhance social and emotional development.
Cognitive Development
Our teachers help your toddler make connections between the language and motor skills necessary for completing tasks and responding to requests. We provide them with plenty of opportunities to explore, and develop an awareness of others through play, observation, and exploration. Children at this age learn through sensory play and physical activity which reinforces reasoning skills, improves attention span, and sharpens memory skills.
Language & Communication
At Rising Star Academy, we understand toddlers! Toddlers are fascinated by words and language, and they want to imitate everything we do. This is why it is important to have positive models in the classroom and every opportunity for them to discover and explore, and be guided to understand the environment around them. Our teachers help transition your toddler from nonverbal to verbal by modeling conversations, teaching sign language, and helping them identify familiar people and objects by name.
Social & Emotional Growth
Toddlers are primarily concerned with developing and understanding who they are. Starting at 18 months, identity becomes the dominant theme for them. Developing this sense of self has a lot to do with their desire and drive for independence and control. We create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for our children to explore their emotions in a healthy manner. Your toddler will participate in activities designed to help them identify feelings and foster relationships with friends and caregivers.
Fine & Gross Motor Skills
At Rising Star, we also focus on improving motor skills – whether your toddler is still teetering with a wide-based gait, confidently getting around on two legs, or standing only with assistance. They are also busy exploring the world from their new, upright vantage point plunging ahead full speed before figuring out how to stop. At this stage, your toddler is extremely active. Our teachers guide them through activities that keep them moving and help them refine their motor skills in a safe environment.
Parent Communication
We work hard to develop relationships with our families. Open communication is our priority, including detailed daily reports and an open door policy.
